The Lost Planet is a tactics based videogame, like fire emblem, advanced wars, war groove etc, while also being an open world RPG. The battles occur on a grid based 'bored' with each of the characters in the party being a unit, each unit having their own set of skills, and weaknesses, being advantageous in different situations.
Like mentioned in *game start* and *character* the player will begin by choosing a race, and a job/skill/talent/ idk what to call em yet, each race has their own special feature that can help them in battle, and traversing the universe. Each skill/talent/job thing are pretty much the same, except more technical, meaning you can learn more of them throughout the game while you're stuck with your race's benefits.
Specific combat skills are learned DURING gameplay, the more you use a style/weapon, the more abilities you unlock with it
(weapons ex - RANGED pistols, rifles, sniper rifles, smgs, cross bows, MELEE swords, axes, miscellaneous blunt objects)
Your choice of weapon, extremely personal! Each with their ups and downs, it's up to you to determine how you'd like to play. Pistols are accurate, but lower damage, snipers are 95% accurate, and really high damage, but slow to fire, (cross bows are similar to snipers, except usually cheaper. But bolts are much more expensive than regular ammunition)
Melee weapons are usually stronger than ranged ones, and 100% accurate, but you need to be right next to an enemy to use.
